British Weather – Team GB’s World Cup Graphics
Blackroc is a team of engineers put together by UK Sport, their job is developing innovation specifically for Great Britains Skeleton team. Skeleton is a winter sport where one person races head first down the bobsleigh track on a sled at up to 160km/h, athletes face up to 6G’s around the tracks corners; which I’m told is more than fighter pilots experience. UK Sport approached me to design the applied graphics for these new innovatively enginnered sleds.
British Weather (World Cup Design)
The design for the World Cup plays with both the British sense of humour and the worlds expectations of ‘British Weather’ i.e that they all think that it’s rubbish. The World Cup takes place amid a beautiful backdrop of snow laden mountains, this design however suggests that weather-wise we Brits pulled the short straw. On the slopes of the world cup the design opens a talking point of how successful and talented British Skeleton athletes are, especially coming from a land where there is no snow to train or nurture talent. At the heart of the design is Great Britian; ‘BlackRoc’.
